I have not begun classes so I can not rate the content yet. I received the book on time and it was in the condition stated.

I supplemented this book with Todd Lammle's CCENT book and I am glad that I did. You won't be surprised by the format and the questions on the real exam, because they look like the Boson test questions. I passed it today with a 925 and I can honestly say that I am glad that I used this book in the process.Ok, this book does have some errors like everyone has stated previously.

The simulations are tough and mind wrenching. Do not spend the money for Transcender- it was a waste of money prepping for this exam. I can tell you this, if you get that part down- the exam is a piece of cake.

I just had to write a comment about this book and how it prepped me for the CCENT 1 exam. You really need both books to balance out the knowledge they are trying to give you.The free Boson exam on the CD is really what did it for me. Get Todd Lammle's CCNA book and Cisco's CCENT/CCNA ICND2 book to study for the CCNA exam.

However, I found the book to be too comprehensive at times. Where Wendell went off on some tangent, Todd was able to explain things much better.

If you are interested in CCNA get this book. This book is perfect for what i needed.

now back to studying i just needed to vent ARGHH. Good Luck. I assume this is because his guide was published about the same time the test content was changed.

I thought that his explanations were great and the overall layout of the book was good. Fortunately I knew a lot of it because I'd prepared for the 640-801 before they changed it last fall. I havent taken the exam yet but I used this guide extensively in preparing.

he knows his stuff and i benefitted from his explanations but im sorry to say if this is the only reference you use even if you commit the entire thing to memory i dont think you will pass ICND1. haha yes there was definitely some errata (routing troubleshooting scenario A caused me some frustration until i figured out the mistakes were HIS and they werent even included in teh errata).Part of my final preparation is using the official cisco press CCNA flash cards book and i have been somewhat "discouraged" by the fact that quite a bit of material was not mentioned anywhere in the Odoms ICND1 guide and is presumably "testable" as its in the ICND1 Flash Cards.

and I am referring to VLAN trunking, Access Lists and Cat_X Cabling (which was mentioned in teh guide but i think he said "don't bother memorizing").

I have ZERO industry experience in Cisco, and still felt very comfortable taking the exam with just these resources. The "Do I know this already." quizzes are helpful as well for saving time. I will add that I purchased a couple of used routers (2600) and switches (2950) off eBay to practice on before taking the exam and that was helpful as well. This is a very good book for the aspiring CCNA. Nice job by Wendell Odom. The subnetting videos are very helpful, but you MUST practice. I finished reading through this book, taking the included practice exams and passed the ICND1 on the first try. Just understanding the concept is not good enough for the exam, as you must be able to do subnetting QUICKLY or you will run out of time.
